Summary
Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) is seeking a dedicated Director of Small Animal Clinical Care to provide leadership and oversight for the care of animals used in veterinary and veterinary medical technology education. Based at the DeBusk Veterinary Teaching Center (DVTC) in Ewing, Virginia, this role focuses primarily on dogs and cats, ensuring excellent patient care and compliance with teaching standards. The Director will manage daily clinical operations, supervise staff and students, and serve as a key leader in advancing LMU’s mission of preparing outstanding veterinary professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee clinical care and wellbeing of small animals (primarily dogs and cats) housed at the DVTC
- Supervise and collaborate with staff providing medical care
- Manage use of animals in teaching across CVM programs
- Support clinical education by guiding and mentoring veterinary and veterinary technology students
- Ensure compliance with IACUC, USDA, and institutional standards
- Contribute to curriculum support, animal care policy development, and program improvement
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree
- Eligibility for veterinary licensure in the state of Virginia
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 5 years of clinical veterinary experience
- Experience with IACUC policies, USDA regulations, and animal care compliance
