Description
Cabrillo Pet Hospital is a team-focused, fun place to work and care for all the furry friends. We are a large, multi-service practice offering veterinary services, boarding & day camp, and a pet store in beautiful San Diego, California. We are proudly AAHA accredited and have been serving the Point Loma and Ocean Beach community since 1975.We are currently looking to hire a Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team! Must LOVE Dentistry! Open to VTS in Dentistry! Our ideal candidate will be a dependable, detail-oriented team player who loves animals and being part of a fun, supportive team. They will have experience rooming patients, surgical assisting experience and knowledge of equipment used, drawing blood and running lab work, knowledge of x-rays and proper positioning, experience with proper animal handling and restraint, understanding the importance of client education, and being a positive and motivating team member.
- Salary: $27 - 33 per hour, depending on experience, certifications, education, and licensure.
- Schedule: Five 8-hour shifts, Monday- Friday
- Location: 4134 Voltaire St, San Diego, CA 92107
Who you are:
- Registered Veterinary Technician in the state of California, license must be active and in good standing.
- 3+ years of veterinary experience in a clinical setting
- Knowledge of industry tools and equipment
- Passion for working with animals and their owners
- Experience with proper animal handling and restraint, Fear Free preferred
- Understand the importance of excellent communication and organizational skills
- Obtain accurate and thorough medical histories
- Perform basic exam procedures
- Skilled in venipuncture and Intravenous (IV) catheter placement (cephalic, saphenous, and jugular)
- Able to perform digital radiology (X-ray) including positioning
- Perform complete dental procedures, including digital x-rays, scaling, polishing, charting, and extractions
- Comfortable with general anesthesia and surgical assisting (induction, intubation, monitoring, aseptic technique)
- Laboratory skills including microscope (ear and fecal cytology); in-house laboratory equipment
- Ability to utilize ultrasound to obtain diagnostic images and urine samples preferred
- Excellent client communication/education
- Ability to perform Technician appointments independently, including accurate medical record documentation
