Description

We are searching for an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our team of professionals. We are a full service, small animal hospital in Richmond Indiana providing quality and compassionate care to our patients and their owners. We believe pets are part of the family and are looking for an individual who shares that belief and will complement our efforts in providing quality medical care to our patients.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assist the veterinarian with the daily care of hospitalized and surgical patients as well as provide patient restraint during routine appointments.
• Educate clients on all medical recommendations as well as preventive medicine, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, heartworm, intestinal parasites, etc.
• Safely and properly restrain all patients during exams.
• Provide pre- and post-op care of surgical patients, including medications.
• Administer and monitor anesthesia with surgical patients.
• Perform dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and simple extractions.
• Clean and sterilize all instruments and equipment.
• Obtain patient history and vitals on all appointments.
• Administer subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous injections.
• Perform venipuncture blood draws - including jugular.
• Properly place and bandage an IV catheter.
• Take digital radiographs with proper positioning.
• Collect and prepare samples for laboratory testing - both in-house and outside lab.
• Fill medication prescriptions and educate clients on proper dosing and potential side effects.
• Assist the entire team to provide a safe and clean work environment.

Requirements

• Registered and/or Experienced Veterinary Technician
• Able to lift 50 pounds unassisted
• Strong communication skills and phone etiquette.
• Ability to multitask.
• Works well within a team.
• A professional, caring, and confident demeanor with a solid work ethic.
