The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the national not-for-profit association established in 1863 representing over 93,000 veterinarians working in private and corporate practice, government, industry, academia, and uniformed services, is seeking a Continuing Education Manager to join our Convention and Meeting PlanningTeam located in our Headquarters office in Schaumburg, IL, a northwest suburb of Chicago. AVMA’s mission is to lead the profession by advocating for our members and advancing the science and practice of veterinary medicine to improve animal and human health.
Reporting to the Division Director, this key position is responsible for managing the development and execution of continuing education events and programs for AVMA members and stakeholders including our annual Convention and Veterinary Leadership Conference educational programs; and will also assist with AVMA’s digital education initiatives. This includes faculty-led and virtual education management of abstracts, budget evaluation, vendor management, and development of new programs. They will be responsible for analyzing all available data including session data and attendee feedback to guide the successful creation and implementation of AVMA lifelong learning activities for members to deliver relevant and unique member value, increasing member engagement and satisfaction. Approximately 10% travel.
Additional qualifications include:
BS/BA in a related field; MS in Adult Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or Business strongly preferred; CVT designation a plus
Minimum of 5 years of progressive and proven professional responsibility for the execution and project management of continuing education coordination, not-for-profit association experience and supervisory experience preferred
Experience with the veterinary profession as a veterinary technician a plus
Experience working with meeting management platforms and/or speaker databases, knowledge/experience with Aptify and/or eShow a plus
Experience in digital education, curriculum delivery, development and evaluation, with demonstrated knowledge/experience working with an LMS
Must have solid communication skills and be capable of delivering clear messages through verbal, written, and listening skills
Must be highly organized with strong attention to detail; as well as excellent project management, planning, and organizational skills
Must be able to work as a proactive, collaborative member of the Division team to plan events
Must be analytical and a problem solver
