About After Hours Veterinary Emergency Clinic & Guilford College Animal Hospital
The After Hours Veterinary Emergency Clinic, PA (AHVEC) is the longest standing after hours emergency veterinary clinic in Greensboro. AHVEC provides emergency veterinary services for the Piedmont Triad Region of North Carolina. It was started in 1976 and in 1996 moved to a brand new state of the art facility specially designed for the needs of an emergency and critical care veterinary practice. The practice remains at that location at 5505 West Friendly Avenue in Greensboro, and it is the site of the birthplace of Dolly Madison, wife of the fourth U.S. President James Madison.
In March 2013 the After Hours Veterinary Emergency Clinic combined with Guilford College Animal Hospital (a 24 hour general practice) to provide advanced veterinary services with a highly competitive fee structure, the convenience of ANYTIME care, and a continuity of that care unmatched in the Piedmont triad.
We utilize the latest technologies in the diagnosis and care of our patients. On site equipment available at AHVEC include Sound-Eklin digital radiography, GE ultrasononography, video endoscopy, blood chemistry and complete blood count machines, and electrolyte, blood gas, coagulation analyzers, ...Surgivet Monitoring, and a Bovie-style monopolor/bipolar electrosurgery generator.
An extensive library of information is available to our veterinarians as well as referral consults with board certified specialists in critical care, cardiology, internal medicine, radiology, ophthalmology, and neurology when needed.
We provide a positive work environment and promote individual advancement in skills and knowledge base at every level of employment.
